What is the best mattress for me?
Whilst there is no proven scientific formula for choosing the correct mattress. Larger build, your recommended choice would be a firmer mattress. However, should you suffer from arthritis, poor circulation, or have hip, shoulder, or lower back pain you may also consider a Medium mattress. Tummy sleeping is not recommended, but if you can’t break the habit you should also consider a firmer mattresses and low pillows to minimise arching of your lower back.
Medium build your recommended mattress would be Medium. If you are elderly or frail, suffer from arthritis, poor circulation, hip or shoulder pain you may consider a plusher mattress to alleviate pressure points.
Medium mattresses tend to suit side and back sleepers.
Side sleepers require conforming support that will evenly distribute weight across the mattress, therefore, reducing pressure points in the hip and shoulder area.
Back sleepers disperse body weight over a greater surface area and therefore require firmer support with a more conforming surface.
Smaller build or suffer from arthritis, poor circulation or have hip or shoulder pain your recommended mattress would be a plusher feel. Plusher mattresses generally work well for slightly built side sleepers as the plusher surface will reduce direct pressure on the shoulders and hips.
Signs you need a new mattress
